New Perspectives on Trending Genres: Action, True Crime, and Biopics

Writers Room Audiovisual Mídia e Entretenimento Futuro Tendências Consumo Comportamento Criatividade

Looking at trends is always a double-edged sword. On one side, the risk of doing more of the same. On the other, the risk of losing touch with the zeitgeist. Amidst these two extremes, there's a constant market search for what's in vogue, for the hype, for understanding the themes, formats, and genres that are managing to attract the largest audiences. But what's the relationship of creators with this duality? How much does a trend actually impact the creation of the most relevant works in audiovisual? To address this issue, this panel selects three genres considered constant trends in the Brazilian market - action, true crime, and biographies - with the intention of delving into the discussion about the creative choices behind the works produced by the invited authors, as well as aiming to address some specificities of each of these genres, in an effort to understand what might lie at the core of this greater connection with the national audience.
