Sergio Yates

General Partner

Sergio Yates has been an early stage investor in tech-based startups since 2010. Prior to join Antera Asset Management as partner, he did many angel investments (2 exits), was venture partner at Confrapar and in parallel served as advisor for a govern agency supporting entrepreneurship and innovation. Before that, launched Acelara Partners/Microsoft Ventures in Brazil, was entrepreneur in residence at Instituto Genesis of PUC Rio - a leading business incubator in LATAM - and prior also co-founded a training and consultancy company. After graduating, spent 10 years working for corporations such as PepsiCo (Brazil and USA), Esso Brasileira de Petróleo (ExxonMobil), White Martins (Praxair Inc.) and Fininvest. Sergio holds a PhD. degree in Innovation Management from Coppe/UFRJ & Brighton University - UK, a MSc. degree in Management from FGV/EBAPE and an undergraduate degree in Information Technology from PUC Rio. He is also involved with a variety of academic, philanthropic and cultural pursuits. He has taught at undergraduate and graduate courses at major universities in Brazil – CoppeAd/UFRJ, PUC Rio, FGV, IBMEC. He serves as Counsellor of Ballet de Santa Teresa, a NGO that supports children living in social risk areas.
