Novelas have always been portrayed in Brazil as open works, evolving and transforming according to the shifts in direction that authors make during their airing, based on impressions of what resonates most with the audience and the course corrections they deem necessary to evoke emotions, make an impact, and engage with the public. With the first commissions of novelas for streaming platforms, much has been changing in the writing process of these works, which maintain melodrama as an essential genre but find new forms, durations, narrative structures, and ways of realizing what is the most commercially consolidated format in Brazilian audiovisuals. To discuss these transformations, this panel will delve into the creative process and the perspectives of authors with extensive experience in broadcast television, who are now at the forefront of some of the pioneering initiatives of the format on different streaming platforms.

Angela Chaves | Palestrante
Angela Chaves is a writer and screenwriter. At TV Globo, she collaborated on several programs, series and telenovela, having written with authors such as Gilberto Braga and Manoel Carlos. She collaborated with the miniseries Maysa - Quando Fala ao Coração, which was nominated for the International Emmy Awards. As an author, she wrote the series Os Dias Eram Assim, which achieved great success, and was responsible for the remake of the telenovela Éramos Seis. She is Master in Brazilian Literature and the author of children's books and short tales. She worked with Patrícia Andrade on the Netflix series "Senna". She created and wrote Netflix Brazil's first original melodrama series "Pedaço de Mim”.
Daniel Berlinsky | Palestrante
Screenwriter with 14 years of professional experience, 11 of them at TV GLOBO, where he wrote series and soap operas, among which "Amor à vida" and the conclusion of "Gabriela". Outside of Globo, he penned the script for the remake of the soap opera "Dona Beja", produced by Floresta/Sony for the WBD's streaming platform, Max. He is currently developing a new project for streaming.
George Moura | Palestrante
George Moura, 60 anos, pernambucano, roteirista, 8 vezes indicado ao Emmy Internacional. Autor de séries como O Canto da Sereia, Amores Roubados, O Rebu, Onde Nascem Os Fortes, Onde Está Meu Coração, e do programa Por Toda Minha Vida, da Rede Globo. Roteirista de filmes como Linha de Passe, Walter Salles, Redemoinho, José Luiz Villamarim, Getúlio, João Jardim, O Grande Circo Místico, Cacá Diegues, entre outros. Guerreiros do Sol é a nova novela do Globo Play, que está em edição, com estreia prevista para 2025.
Renata Sofia | Moderadora
Author and screenwriter on TV Globo. Part of thr writers at “Vai Na Fé” and “No Rancho Fundo”, “Detetives do Prédio Azul” on the Gloob channel and “Temporada de Verão” on Netflix. Playwright in the play “A Protagonista” and drama advisor in the play “Quem é o Zezinho?”. With the original features “MC Estrela” and “Como Destruir um Boy Lixo” under option contracts with producers Kromaki and Glaz respectively. Graduated in Journalism from UERJ.
