Masterclass: The Relationship Between Script and Direction

Writers Room Audiovisual Mídia e Entretenimento Storytelling Criatividade

Finding the right tone and language is one of the many challenges of creating solid audiovisual works, and the relationship between screenwriter and director plays a fundamental role. The writer is inspired and writes a whole universe of characters, relationships, conflicts and arcs, he goes through a tour de force to get the life that makes the screen thrill from the blank page, but he also depends a lot on the transition between what is imagined and what is realized. The text, however structured, profound and developed, needs gaps and provocations that are closely linked to the directorial work. It is in the construction of this language, in the work with the actors, with the photography, with the framing, that the consolidation takes place. It is precisely from this exchange that the cathartic power of the highest quality audiovisuals emerges, and an example of this is the series Os Outros, created by Lucas Paraizo and directed by Luisa Lima, who will come together in this panel
